The 5th Annual Eagles Gate adult Prom!

This year our theme was Superheros! We have so much fun with this every year! What a great group of people we live with.

 Scott was "The Greatest American Hero" and I was "The Black Widow" from the Avengers. Eat your heart out Scarlet Johansson!

Life with 5 kids is never dull. Here are the happenings around here lately.

 Who do you think Ever is copying? Those are some good headstands!

 The school jog-a-thon PTA fundraiser also known as "The Rider Run." I recently was roped into being on the PTA board as the special needs rep for our school, so I get to help at all the activities now. It does give me the chance to be at the school more with the kids. :)

 Annicka was the 4th placed girl out of 5th and 6th grade.

 Aunt Loraine came for a visit over conference weekend and she and Scott talked magic all during the 2nd Saturday session. :) It sure was good to see her.

 And Ever just has to help with everything! Including mixing the ice water for tempura sushi. She was so focused for about 10 minutes stirring.

 CORNBELLY'S! I got to take the three youngest on a field trip with Indie's class. So many slides! And the hayride was fun too!

He's famous!

Our local paper, The Crossroads Journal, recently published an article about Scott and his magic shows! He must be famous! I think he is mostly proud to be carrying on his Grandfather's tradition of doing magic, even if it is on a smaller scale. And I'm proud too. :)

My friend, the author

Jamie Robyn Wood and I have been friends since middle school (she was Salazar then). You know those horrible years when you are trying to figure yourself out and what kind of friends you want to have and what kind of person you want to be and yet you still want to fit in and be cool? She got me through those years! She is the kind of friend that is loyal and brave and stalwart and kind. I just love her. And she recently published her first novel "Bearskin." She also has 5 kids, all around my kids ages and her husband is currently getting his PhD. She writes during nap time. And I am enormously proud of her! Not just for writing the book, but for writing one that I really enjoyed! Her characters were real. I especially loved that the antagonist in this book had a very real and human side to her. Jamie, my hat is off to you! You are amazing!
