Happy Birthday Adam Michaelson!

This is seriously one of our most favorite traditions! Whenever Adam's birthday comes around we go to the store and buy some presents for him. Some of them are dumb, some are just useful, and some are plain silly. Once they are wrapped we head next door and watch as he opens them and gives the best reactions to each one. Every year it is EPIC! And this year was no different! Spanking machine and all. How we love the Michaelson's and cannot imagine our lives without them!

Cut the Penny

Did you ever play this game as a kid? We frequently did and I had completely forgotten about it until one Family Night when Scott was gone for a magic show and I couldn't think what to do with the kids. I suddenly had a flash of playing this game. What you do is fill a cup with flour, pack it in, turn it upside down on a plate and then remove the cup. If you're lucky, the flour holds the shape of the cup. Then you place a penny in the middle. Everyone takes turns cutting some of the flour away. Whoever makes the penny fall then has to dig the penny out with their teeth. It is so MESSY! But memorable and fun. The kids loved it.

Annicka the Artist

This girl has natural talent. Her favorite medium is water color. She created this piece one Sunday afternoon when she was bored. She is constantly drawing or painting something, making popup cards for her loved ones, or creating something beautiful out of nothing. I am constantly amazed at how she picks this up all on her own. She holds a brush like a natural painter. She even has a piece of paper next to what she is creating to practice different strokes so that she gets the desired effect. I can't wait until she gets into art class next year in middle school and she can receive some real instruction and learn even more. I look forward to watching her grow as an artist.
