Every year Adam Michaelson puts together a hike to Flat Top Peak to the west of us close to the 4th of July. It's a long one, about 8 miles. I haven't been able to go up until this year. I was planning on going by myself with the group Adam had pulled together until the night before I was packing and getting ready and all of a sudden Park asked to go with. I was floored! Anytime we have been hiking for any length of time before this he (and most of the other kids) tend to complain. I told him he was welcome to come, but that it was a long and hard hike. He was adamant about coming. And I'm so glad he did! It was a beautiful hike and Park was amazing! No complaining, he hiked like a pro and we had a great day.
The sunset was "glorious and beautiful" according to Adam. I responded with, "It is Michaelson."
We are pumped!
At the top to partake of lunch.
Horny toads! They were everywhere!
We even got to have a snowball fight.
This kids was one tired boy afterward, but he loved every minute of it.
The 4th was an exciting night of the neighborhood band, fireworks, and even a fire in the Gully. Thankfully the fire department is practically in our backyard and they put it out quickly before any damage was done to homes.
