This year it was Indie's turn to try soccer. We've been nervous about how he would handle it. He loves practice when everyone has their own ball and they are doing drills. He'll follow everyone around and do a great job. Then a scrimmage starts and everyone goes after the same ball. He has no interest in it then. He wants to kick his own ball. So for the first three games he went to he would walk out onto the field and then walk straight back off. Scott is the assistant coach this year, so we keep going and just hope he'll catch on. This last week Scott was in New York and I took him and all the kids to his game by myself, fully expecting him to refuse to play. Right as we walked up to the field his coach said, "Hey Indie! We need you!" Out he went and out he stayed, for a whole quarter! He wouldn't go out again after that, but I was thrilled that he even stayed out as long as he did. Did he even touch the ball? Of course not! But he chased the group of kids around and would line up where Coach Mike told him to.
See that white blond hair in the middle? That's my Indie!Ready...set...
GO!
Time for a water break!
